I've made it to Colombia

Colombia is a gem that's shrouded by a mythology of strife. These urban legends keep turistas out of the country for fear of their lives. The country is portrayed as a third-world nation, run by narcotrafficantes and left-wing guerillas. This may be true in the vast jungles that nobody can find, but everything I've seen here has been remarkable.

Colombians want the rest of the world to know that "Colombia es Bueno." And Colombia is Bueno. I've indulged the finest coffee, I've oggled the finest women, and I finally understand that this place isn't scary at all.

A notable difference between a small capital in Colombia (Armenia) compared to a small capital in Mexico (Pachuca) is that the Colombian capital looks complete. New buildings line the streets of Armenia, all of them have roofs, without rebar sticking out the top. I walked for miles and everything looked far more developed. This of course could just be because poverty is better hidden in Colombian cities, or just that this city looks nicer than others.

All I know, is that I'm excited to be here.

As it turns out there is plenty of poverty, it's just on the southside of the city.
